MINNIE MORTIMER

Born and raised on New York’s Upper East Side, Minnie’s childhood was spent between Manhattan, Palm Beach and Southampton.  After boarding school Minnie landed in Paris. From there she  pursued her love of photography and fashion, traveling the world shooting with Italian photographer Oberto Gili. It was along these travels that she met and fell in love with her Oscar winning film maker husband Stephen Gaghan.  They moved to Malibu were Minnie began to surf and  designed her first piece. Vogue Magazine immediately took notice of the classic sleek silhouette and featured Minnie and her dress in their Spring 09’ issue. The overwhelming response from that first article inspired Mortimer to continue designing. That fall she released her first complete collection.

“I grew up going to all girl private schools in Manhattan and we always had these very cute uniforms but you’d only have so much sway over how to “customize” them. I would line my blazers, dart my skirts, I’d change all of the buttons, I would do anything I could to make them unique. And when I started designing I found myself referencing those roots.”

To date Minnie's designs are sold in around 100 boutiques in the US. Recently she has begun selling to stores in Japan, Italy, Brazil, Germany and England. She has been features in the pages of Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Vogue Nippon, The Wall Street Journal Vanity Fair, Harpers Bazaar, InStyle, WWD, Style.com and many others. Minnie has also been features on Good Morning America and Good Day LA. 

In the Fall of 2010 Minnie partnered with W Hotels to design an exclusive collection for the hotel boutiques worldwide. She has also appeared in a cameo on the CW's hit show "GOSSIP GIRL"

 

Minnie's designs have gained a following of celebrities, fashion world insiders, and it girls around the world including, Miranda Kerr, Olivia Palermo, Lauren Santo Domingo, Byrdie Bell, Drew Barrymore, Kelly Bensimon, Hayley Bloomingdale, Jamie Lee Curtis, Amanda Ross, Louise Row, Chloe Moretz, Lenay Dunn, Sarah Jessica Parker, and many others.
